I only discovered the other day that I've got a pretty concrete routine now a days. I always attend/ skip the same classes, go to J2, be productive, and party at the same times. It's kind of depressing actually because I really wanted to allow myself to be thrown into different activities and let every day be a different adventure. Perhaps I'm just being hypersensitive because I recently turned 22 and me thinking I'm in a routine is just a symptom of my fear of being old.
Regardless, I'm gonna attend a concert next Wednesday! I'm also involving myself more in sport. Nothing is going to stop me from going to the hot tub 4 hours/ day, 6 days/ week - not even my insecurities. That's a routine I'll gladly keep till the day I die.
Holy crap! I just realized that I write 17 blog entries each month! Ahhh! The predictability is killing me!!
I've been reading (yes, reading) a book my mum gave me for my birthday called "religion for atheists". At first it seemed promising. I thought it would be an entertaining read describing the benefits of religion in a non bias context. Sooo wrong. I'd bet my dog that the bloke who wrote the book is an undercover fundamentalist because he starts out fair and factual, but gradually ends up talking about how Atheists are all devoid of any emotional connection or moral correctness. Needless to say, I didn't react to the book, gradually put it down, and then started to neatly write an elaborate murder plot for the Author.
I got my Engineering Solids Midterm Exam back. 19.5/20. I'm pretty satisfied with that. Although I'm kind of pissed that I lost 0.5 of a mark for the most basic error.

Birthday fun
For those of you that either have a bad memory or can't be bothered to scroll down half a page; I had two birthday parties, one on Thursday and one on Friday.
Thursday night was a lot of fun. Despite my phone dying half way through and me losing contact with a bunch of people throughout the night, I had a blast! I should say a big thank you to Ettiene and Vivek for looking after me that night. They went above and beyond what any friend needed to do.
Friday night was heaps of fun too! It was a slow start at first, but at 11 sharp the place was crowded! Very good by party standards! I introduced the idea of a 'vegemite shot' to my friends. It didn't go down too well, but it was a lot of fun watching their facial expressions change dramatically at just the smell of the stuff.
My mission was to pull an all nighter and run the texas longhorn run the next morning. But I arrived back at my dorm earlier than expected, so I figured I had enough time to have a 2 hour power nap. I set my alarm and my roommates alarm to wake me up. It was a futile attempt though. My phone alarm was quiet as hell! And my roommates alarm didn't go off!!! I woke up abruptly to my mum storming into my dorm at 10:30 demanding why I wasn't prepared to go to San Antonio hours before hand, and why I hadn't gone on the texas long horn run!! I was as disappointed in myself as she was.
Right now I'm in San Antonio chilling out with my mum one last time before she goes back to Australia.
I had a dinner meal that was as large as I was. I thought I could handle the Texan ribs, but I was way too ambitious. I was pretty much eating an entire cow that was lying on my plate, drowned in bbq sauce.
Also, earlier this week I had a 12 oz steak at some fancy restaurant. If you don't know what the term oz (ounce) means, you were not alone. I had no idea how heavy 1 oz was. So I had to come up with a creative way to estimate how much cow was going to be on my plate. I knew roughly how much 1/2 an oz of weed weighs, so I just imagined 24 bags of that and I had a rough idea of how heavy my steak was! I felt like such a druggie afterwards…

birthday!
That's right, It's my birthday. And to celebrate this annual event, I'm talking to myself over the internet. Yay social life!
But my birthday isn't the only good news. Mother dearest arrived in America a few days ago and just got to Austin TX in the evening. I walked her around downtown and had dinner with her. Out of pure sympathy, she bought me some soap :D
Ok, back to my birthday. I'm planning two parties, one on Thursday and one on Friday. Because I've got two very distinct social circles in Texas; those >21 and those < 21, We're probably going to go downtown on the Thursday evening, then have a house party on the Friday night. This is good timing because I've planned a 10km run on Saturday morning, so I'll have 2 days worth of vodka and beer sloshing around in my stomach for extra energy! I suppose you could technically call that planning, but I only just put up the facebook event, and because it's so short notice and I don't actually have a house to party in, I'm not expecting a huge outcome. But we'll see what happens.
Ok back to my mum. The Saturday after my run, my mum and I are traveling to San Antonio (I remember that name by pronouncing sand - ants - and Oreo's) to see more of Texas. In particular, I plan to see the Alimo - a place where I heard the largest kill streak ever occurred in real life. The inner halo 3 gamer geek that I am gets excited at the thought that a group of people could play real life 'king of the hill' and hold of that many hoards of bad guys for such a long time. Sooo many points!
Ok, back to me. I'm going to be studying for most of my birthday (because I've got a shit tonne of exams to do), but I will be able to celebrate by having an 'egg cake'. I'm going to order 2 egg pancakes, stuff them together, then put carrots through them to make them look like a proper birthday cake! Yay J2! Finally your lack of variety has turned into creativity!
I'm 22 now. Fuck I'm old...

Mum
My mum is coming to Texas on the 9th to visit me and the city :). I'm looking forward to it. It'll be nice to see part of my family again. Plus, I've instructed her to bring a tub of Vegemite with her - this should be fun.
Also, my earphones have finally arrived. I walked down to the river to celebrate. It's so rewarding to chill out to pink floyed and Maroon 5 on a sunny warm day.
So I actually looked at my calendar today. SHIT! I've got 3 exams next week! This will be hectic bru. Time for some last minute studeh.

classes
So I'm probably not going to do that well academically in 1 of my classes here. I've gotten A's in all my tests, but I have repeatedly missed class and not handed in homework. I arrived 1 hour late and left 2 hours early for a 3 hour class today...
I really don't care too much. The course is about Engineering design and focus's mainly on "solid works", a program which UNSW doesn't even use. So I'm not fussed. All I need to do is pass and I get my precious credit average :).

Moore Hill
Moore Hill needs to be more less gay. That's right, I made that up myself. I'm so witty!
My parents called me the other day and told me that I'm not spending enough money. I'd have to agree with them. I'm very tight with my money, I'm always saving money by going to buffets and buying the cheapest alcohol. I think I'm going to use this as an excuse to go out and invest in dozens of pairs of aviators and become a very active member in the Scientology religion. Oh that reminds me, there is a Scientology church just opposite UT. I walk past it almost every day. Ironically, they were inviting people in for a free IQ test. I guess there's a maximum IQ limit for members.
I've also downloaded a lot of music recently - some of it being Pink Floyed. I'm 21 and I've only just realized how good my Dad's taste in music is. I'm still really surprised at how tolerant my roommate is. I blast music all the time and I leave mess everywhere, but he doesn't complain.
I really don't know what happened to the girls I met at Breckenridge. I meet them around campus sometimes, and they seemed very happy to see me and they were eager to chill out on the weekend. I also used to get invitations to some of the gigs they go to. But unpredictably, they just stopped communicating with me. It's really weird. I don't think I've done anything wrong, but it's making me a little self conscious. I've come to the conclusion that they've all just recently discovered their inner bi polar nature.
I'm not sure if I've talked about this before, but I'm still very motivated to create online educational videos - much like those made by the Khan Academy. So I went though the effort of searching for a free program where I can make small cartoon animations. I was shut down almost instantly when I found out that Adobe Flash casts $1000's of dollars! I guess I'll take my Dad's advice and spend more money, eh?
I'm still chilling out in the hot tub almost every day, regardless of how much work I have to do. It's come to the point where I'm starting to meet other regulars there. It's a good life

people
So I experienced a despicable display of prejudice and intolerance to cultural diversity today. Let me tell you the story from the beginning:
Early in the morning, I caught myself innocently walking to J1. People were smiling, the sun was out and I was helping elderly and blind people cross the road. But when I entered the J1 doors (after holding the door open for several people, and giving up my spot in line for them), I was approached by the most disgusting of people. This grotesque excuse for a human approached me to inform me of something. As his mouth opened, the sun stopped shining and I heard a crack of thunder race across the sky. He said something along the lines of "sir, this is a restaurant, you have to wear shoes here...", then he tore off his employee shirt and punched me in the chest. As I went flying (at least 50m) I had some time to speculate on his cruel nature. As I landed flawlessly, I concluded that his immature and evil personality was just a result of a lack of a shoeless upbringing. So I left J1 with my pride.
Engineering vibrations is a joke! The lecturer is soooo baaad. He puts no effort into his teaching nor the homework he assigns. I think he's unaware of the fact that his lectures are 1 week behind the homework he assigns. So I end up having to teach myself the subject. I can only keep myself sane by talking to classmates who have he exact same impression of him as I do.
I've recently rediscovered the genius of Jack Johnson. His music is so relaxing. I bring my ipod to the hot tub and chill there for a while. It's a lot of fun :)
Ahhh! I need to organize so much stuff right now!!! :(
